Chapter 9 focused on educating women.  It started out by illustrating the many ways that institutional places of learning were built by men.   With this in mind it would be easy to understand that the needs of women might not be met here.  Some of the things women need in education is confirmation that they are intelligent even if their inner voice knows that.  They need structure but not tyranny.  Consistency of expectations make it a more effective environment for these women to work in.  If the institution's structure is too tight women's growth might be stunted  because again they are not in control of the information they receive.  Also many of these institutions hold knowledge over student's had in an oppressive manner.  Women get lost in these structures because of their nature to please.  When they leave school it can be difficult for them to think again on their own because they were so used to being told what to know.  Women instead need a more progressing education opportunity.  One that relies on ans many experiences as possible.   Self-Directed learning is crucial for them to tailor their education to their needs.  They need support though just like any student.  Over nurturance form a teacher might create overly dependant employees that lack initiation.  So give women a chance to decide what is important to them and they will take learning to a high level.
